How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Task Force studied and developed a strategy for advancing safe routes to school programs nationwide. The Task Force produced a report to the Secretary containing the results of the study conducted, a description of the strategy developed, and information regarding the use of funds for infrastructure-related projects and non-infrastructure activities funded by the new Federal-aid Safe Routes to School Program.
How is membership balanced?*Membership was balanced to ensure a cross section of the diverse agencies, organizations, and individuals that comprised the Safe Routes to School movement in the United States. By statute, the membership shall be composed of leaders in health, transportation and education, including representatives of appropriate Federal agencies.
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*The estimated number of meetings per year - 4; Estimated total meetings - 8
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Task Force provided a forum for the development, consideration, and communication from a knowledgeable and independent perspective of a strategy for advancing Safe Routes to School Programs nationwide. No other forum exists.

Recommendation RemarksCommittee completed its work in 2008. No further action by the committee is necessary. Accordingly, the committee was sunset when the charter expired on 10/27/2008.

The final report was submitted in July 2008.
