How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Task Force shall: (a) assess the effectiveness of the policies and programs developed and implemented by the Department of Defense, and by each of the Military Departments to assist and support the care, management, and transition of recovering wounded, ill, and injured members of the Armed Forces; and (b) make recommendations for the continuous improvements of such policies and programs.In addition, each year the Task Force shall submit its recommendations to the Secretary of Defense, and within 90 days the Secretary of Defense shall forward the Task Forces' report and the Secretary's comments to the Committees on Armed Services for the Senate and the House of Representatives.
How is membership balanced?*The Department of Defense determines the actual membership based upon criteria established in the advisory committee's enabling legislation (section 724 of Public Law 111-84).
How frequent & relevant are cmte mtgs?*Task Force will hold 6 committee meetings and 14 site visits for FY14.
Why advice can't be obtained elsewhere?*The Department of Defense Task Force on the Care, Management, and Transition of Recovering Wounded, Ill, and Injured Members of the Armed Forces was directed by an Act of Congress (section 724 of Public Law 111-84).
Why close or partially close meetings?Meetings are not closed to the public unless the Department of Defense determines that items on the planned agenda meet the closed meeting provisions of 5 U.S.C. § 552b(c). Pursuant to DoD policy closed meetings can only be authorized by the DoD Sponsor (i.e., the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness), and only after consultation with the Office of the Department of Defense General Counsel.
Recommendation RemarksThe Task Force is scheduled to terminate October 27, 2014.

Task Force Members were initially appointed 6 January 2011 with reappointment on 27 January 2012, 19 Jan 2013. and 13th March 2014.

Task Force officially chartered 18 November 2010. The charter was then renewed on 20 November 2012.

The Task Force has successfully submitted to DoD reports on 3 September 2011, 3 September 2012, and 3 September 2013.

There are no subcommittee members.

During the 2011-2012 year, the Advisory Committee submitted a further 35 recommendations. During the 2012-2013 year, the Advisory Committee submitted and additional 21 recommendations.The Advisory Committee issued 10 recomendations at the July 2014 business meeting which will be provided in the Annual Report being published on 2 September 2014.
