Agency Feedback Comment*The Commission does not advise any single Federal agency. Rather, its mandate is to provide a report, including its recommendations for improvement of existing systems, to the President and Congress, neither of which are expected to provide feedback to the Commission.Narrative Description*The National Commission on Children and Disasters was created as an independent Federal commission to explore issues and gaps surrounding our nation’s ability to respond to the unique needs of children before, during and after disasters, and to make recommendations for improvements to the President and Congress based on its findings. While the Commission does not therefore support any single agency’s mission or strategic plan, it does support the Federal government’s overarching goal of ensuring that the needs all Americans, including children, are understood and planned for effectively in all hazards (i.e. natural disasters, nuclear events, biological attacks, pandemics, etc.), regardless of age.
