How does cmte accomplish its purpose?*The Council provided advice and guidance to the Federal Government through the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture on how to increase public awareness of the importance of wildlife resources and the social and economic benefits of recreational hunting. The committee did not hold any meetings during FY 2010.
How is membership balanced?*In order for the Departments to be advised by a broad and balanced spectrum of the sportsmen conservation communities, the Secretary of the Interior appointed members who represented big game hunters, game bird hunters, state fish and wildlife agencies, wildlife conservation organizations, and the hunting community, achieving a balanced representation for hunting and conservation interests.

Council objectives include: sustaining biological communities on DOI/USDA managed and influenced lands and waters; improving and maintaining national ecosystems and resources; improving and sustaining health of watersheds, landscapes, and marine resources that are DOI/USDA managed; providing for a quality recreation experience including access and enjoyment of natural resources on DOI/USDA managed and partnered lands and waters; and influencing balanced and responsible resource use,e.g. wildlife conservation and energy development interface.
